Mohan Lal Sharma

“पिछवाई वो कला है जो हमारे पूर्वजो ने हमें सिखाई और अब हम अपने बच्चों को सिखाएंगे | इस कला से हमारा घर चलता है और हम लोगो का दिल जीत पाते हैं ”

Mohan Lal Sharma, practicing pichvai painting for the past 55 years, has received this love and devotion for pichvai tradition from his father and forefathers, who have been carrying on this legacy from the past 12 generations. He is now training his children to make sure that the tradition persists. He loves to innovate in his paintings, keeping the beliefs and story intact. He does not see pichvais only as a source of livelihood but as his commitment and devotion. He has received the National Award for his contribution in keeping pichvai art alive. His work was displayed in Dakor Ranchod Rai Temple, Gujarat. His magnificent work can be seen in Shrinathji Temple, Nathdwara, at the Mandsaur Temple, and at Manasa, Madhya Pradesh, and at the Naroda Baithak in Ahmedabad. He is truly a representation of “if you love what you do, you do it with conviction and passion”.
