Shri Raja Ram Sharma, born on June 9, 1963, in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, is one of the most renowned pichvai artists. At the age of 13, he went to Nathdwara to get training from Shri Tulsidas under the Guru Shishya Parampara. Gaining recognition across the world for his paintings, he still continues to work in his workshop in Udaipur. Along with the traditional style of pichvai painting, Raja Ramji has also contemporarised the painting traditions. Continuing with the pichvai tradition, he is also now training his son, Rajat Sharma, in the art form. He also runs “Chitrashala” where he guides and trains upcoming artists. Raja Ramji has had several gallery and museum exhibitions. We can witness his beautiful work in the Shrinathji Temple, Nathdwara, the Haveli of Shrinathji in Udaipur and Ghasiyar and at the Victoria Monroe Fine Art Gallery, Boston, USA. His work has been widely recognised and appreciated and he is the recipient of the National Award.
